February most loved
Updated: Apr 8
February 2020, the month of storms. How annoying! All my plans to go out ruined by the wind and the rain basically every weekend. And I am definitely not brave enough to wrap myself up, grab an umbrella and just face it. No, thank you very much.
At least all my days off spent at home to avoid being blown away had some pay off: productive cleaning and laundry sessions, online shopping, random Sunday naps, new recipes to try and hours and hours of Netflix + snacks. Lovely!
That bring us to the main topic of this post: my most loved items. What I bought, read, watched and listen to during this glorious month.
-Paw paw hair spray
I sadly run out of my beloved Redken heat protector at the end of Jan so I decided to try something new, just to spice things up a bit.
I was recommended this apparently miracle serum by a couple of friends and I am very glad of it. I love the long lasting summery smell plus it actually really makes my hair super silky and soft. I apply some (a couple of pumps) on my dump hair after the shower before blow dry them. The result is fantastic and it is also less expensive than my previous one. Excellent value for money!
-Booja Booja Hazelnut chocolate truffles
I thought I could indulge a bit more into my chocolate addiction after Valentine's day as we are still wearing layers and layers of knitwear...I recently received these truffles and I swear, they are the best thing in the world. They are also dairy and gluten free, which is a bonus. The only problem: the box is too small. No way I will share.
-It's skin Tiger Cica calming serum with Centella Asiatica extract
I tent to have very sensitive skin all year round, but the latest weather conditions worsted the problem. My face was just incredibly irritated by the wind and the cold so I desperately needed to do something about it.
I made some researches online and bumped into this brand I never heard about before while browsing in the sale section on my favourite beauty website.
I gave myself a couple of days to think about it as I was torn wth another product: I saw a hyaluronic acid serum that sounded promising. In a leap of faith, I ended up investing in this serum as the formula looked like a bit more specific for my skin.
It's been a week since I started using it and I can already see some results: less blemishes, less redness on my cheeks and around my nose. My skin feel softer even after hours. Very chuffed with my choice, even more because I purchased it in the sale!
-Fortune mini dress
My boyfriend booked a nice Valentine's dinner in a fancy restaurant in Coven Garden and I decided to surprise him with a new dress. This one was the winner (I literally tried loads): cute print, flattering and sexy without being slutty and something I know I can wear at work as well.
-Oliver Bonas Agata twist gold pleated ear cuff
I really wanted to pierce my ear but I am a pussy and I am scared of the pain. This is the perfect solution! Love love love!
-New Look Black coated leather-look zip leggings
By far the most comfy trousers I own. Great investment piece for the winter, especially for cold and rainy days as they are super warm (they are lined inside). I adore their versatility: they look fierce dressed down with a jumper and a pair of hiking boots but they also look chic dressed up with a silk blouse and heels. Definitely a must have in my wardrobe! I have been wearing them a lot and they always make my outfit stand out while being extra cosy.
-Shakira and JLo Pepsi halftime super bowl show
One of the best live performance I saw recently: I literally was glued on the screen and I watched it twice that evening.
They were absolutely incredible! I loved everything about it: the choices of the songs, the choreographies, the costumes and most of all the powerful messages that they delivered: age is just a number (Shakira is in her 40ies and JLo is 50 but they nailed it) and they literally got loud with the political punch agains Trump anti-latino laws and the harsh immigration policies. To those stupid critics saying that they were too naked and it was anti feminist I just have only one reply: Bollocks! They didn't show any more skin that any Love Islanders and most people at the beach so just shut up.
Well done girls! The super bowl song mix is now in my Spotify favourites. Chapeaux.
-Next in fashion with Tan France and Alexa Chung
As a super fan of Queer Eye, my passion for fashion and with a retail job I could not skip this. Very pleasant indeed. My favourite designer: Angelo, of course. Italians do it better.
I liked the fact that they seemed to punish with elimination mainly the couples that weren't going along very well, where there was someone taking over without make due with the other partner, which is very educative in my opinion.
-Lovely valentine's day card
Exchanging cards for special occasions or just to say thank you is a tradition that I personally love. In Italy is not as popular and I think it's a shame.
I chose this one among the others because otters are my favourite animals and I could spend hours watching documentaries about them cuddling in the water therefore this was the cutest way of saying him that I am still very much in love.
-Women of the dunes
My current ebook from Amazon. I didn't finish it yet, but if you want I can make a review after.
But I know I would like it because it has 3 fundament ingredients that are super attracting for me when choosing a novel: strong women, a mystery and the sea. Yes!
My go to song while on my way to work. His voice is what I need in the morning and the lyrics are so motivating to start my day right.
-Polo bar in Liverpool street
I met there with a friend for an oat cappuccino and a carrot cake but we regret it as we could see passing around delicious-looking plates with English breakfasts and sweets like pancakes. Next time we will try! The place is not the usual super Instagramable cafe but it's cosy and the leave you chit-chat for hours without coming every five seconds to ask you if you want anything else at all (meaning: order something else or get out).
The sweet tooth paradise. Elegant cafe in the middle of Soho, highly Instagramable, the choices of cakes and breakfasts served is endless and they are all super yummy. The prices are obviously a bit higher than a normal cafe but, you know, sometimes it is OK to treat yourself! I had a tropical smoothie with a raspberry tart and they were extra nice!
I hope you guys enjoyed my post, let me know what are your top 3 items for this month! Stay tuned, my next food post will be on Friday!
