Ciao, welcome back to my blog!
Today I am going to share with you again the best items and product that I bought this month.
Summer is in full swing, July is already over and I can't believe how time flies these days, especially on holidays.
Below you will find my usual list of the best items that I have been purchasing, reading and watching during the month.

Home product of the month:
Brita jug and filters:
I can't stand the taste of tap water and it is also not healthy to drink as it is full of limescale but I refuse to buy bottled water so I ended up buying what is considered to be the best water jug available now. I opted for the jug + 6 MAXTRA filters pack to start with.
It took a while to decide which one was the best solution for me but I made some research and apparently too strong filters (such as ZeroWater) can purify water too much and strip it from minerals that we actually need.
The parcel arrived on Tuesday 28th and I must admit the leaflet with the instructions is a bit complicated, so I just watched a YouTube tutorial and in 10 minutes I had a jug full of filtered water ready to drink.
The difference is striking!
Coffee and tea are much better when using filtered water and I am sure I will stay more hydrated too now that the taste has improved.
Bonus: using filtered water for coffee machines and kettles extend their durability as there is no need to descale them!
Accessory of the month:
Reusable face mask
It is now mandatory to wear face masks on public transport and shops, therefore we definitely need to stock a couple of reusable masks instead of using the disposable ones for three reasons:
They are prettier, better for the environment and a bit more comfortable.
I found this cute one while browsing in Superdrug and I am super happy with it! The print is adorable and summery, the fit is perfect thanks to the adjustable straps and it is machine washable.
Exactly what I needed.
Beauty item of the month:
You know by now that I am a big fan of natural remedies and I was missing a key oil in my beauty pantry.
Almond oil is known for its emollient properties, it is one of the best oils to use on the face and to prepare great homemade face masks as it is antibacterial and full of vitamin A, which makes it ideal for dry and sensitive skin.
On top of that, it can be beneficial to treat acne and stretch marks, it can help to lighten the dark circles under the eyes and reduce puffiness thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It also contains retinol, vitamin E, and vitamin K, which can keep the delicate skin under the eyes smooth without irritating it.
Sounds like a miracle-worker!
I loved the packing of the brand I chose: the glass bottle with the pump is so much better and mess-free when applying it, especially on hair. Total winner for me, I surely will keep on buying it.
Book of the month:
This is the plot as described by Amazon:
"On a dark midwinter's night in an ancient inn on the Thames, the regulars are entertaining themselves by telling stories when the door bursts open and in steps an injured stranger. In his arms is the drowned corpse of a child. Hours later, the dead girl stirs, takes a breath and returns to life. Is it a miracle? Is it magic? And who does the little girl belong to?"
I really enjoyed reading this book while I was on holiday as it is a well written classic romantic mystery novel.
The story is a gripping mix of folklore and legend, furthermore, it is set in a period of time that has always fascinated me (the Victorian age) since I read Jane Eyre's novels during my Uni days. Highly recommended if you like perfect 19th century British escapism literature.
Superb gold and bronze chunky chain from the 90s that my mum gave to me during my holidays.
It is a necklace she was always wearing when I was a child and, besides the sentimental value that it has for me, I have always loved it so much as it is a bold and unique item (that's the beauty of vintage!)
Being a statement piece, it works wonders to elevate any of my simple everyday outfits. Jewellery is for sure the best accessory to make instantly smarter a minimalist, casual look and it goes perfectly with my new, lighter hair colour.
TV series of the month:
The last season of "Poldark" on Netflix.
Breathtaking Cornwall's landscapes, romance, adventure, love and drama: everything you need for a relaxing evening or a lazy Sunday on the sofa.
What I really like about this series is that it gets under your skin and really makes you take things personally. I got angry at the characters like it never happened to me before in my life!
Food product of the month:
Organic Tahini sauce
I am always trying to reduce my diary intake when possible, so I have tried this delicious and organic Tahini sauce to make homemade hummus and creamy pasta sauces.
I love the sticky but velvety texture and it is such a versatile pantry ingredient to have to prepare for a quick, healthy meal.
Drink of the month:
Berlucchi Franciacorta Curvee Brut
I am not usually a drinker, but I really enjoyed having a good bottle of this excellent Prosecco while I was in Italy.
It is the perfect choice for your aperitivo and it goes splendidly with fresh fish dishes thanks to its fruity and floral aroma. It is a must-have to try as a treat for a special occasion!
Fitness hack of the month:
Swimming in the sea
I have been on holiday for two weeks on the Tuscany coast and I was thrilled to go back to one of my absolute favourite workouts of all times, which is swimming in the sea every day.
It is by far the best total body workout: it engages all the muscles and at the same time, it is one of the most relaxing activities you can possibly do.
Cold water works your body twice as hard as swimming in a pool, and the body's long term metabolism increases.
Rich in magnesium, sodium, calcium, chloride and sulfate, seawater can also help to relieve stress, relax your muscles and promote deep sleep while working as natural cosmetics for the skin. It also promotes the retention of moisture in the skin whilst absorbing toxins and reducing inflammation, leaving the skin fresh and vibrant. Do you need to know more to book a beach holiday this year?
