A love letter to all women

Ciao, welcome back to my blog.

It's women's day.

Today I really want to celebrate all the beautiful women that I know and all the amazing ones that I don't, because you truly deserve it.

That's why I put together some of the feminist and motivational quotes that inspire me and encourage me every day in the form a love letter.

Women can be very cruel to themselves and towards each other and that's the only thing that prevented us from conquering the world. It's easy to slip into the old-school mentality and start to believe what the old social rules impose on us.

Learn to be kinder to each other. Be kind to yourself too. Being hard on yourself makes hard things harder, being kind to yourself makes hard things easier.

Everybody blooms at different rates. Some seasons are for growing, and some are for blooming. Repeat to yourself: "No matter what season I am in today, I am enough. I do enough. I matter. I have value. I belong. My life has meaning."

Buy yourself flowers and eat the cake, buy you a treat because you are a good girl. Allow yourself to be happy, laugh and dance.

Support other women and don't be jealous of the other's achievement, cherish and share.

Please, don't judge: if someone wants to get fit and posts gym selfies, be there for it. If a homegirl is feeling good about herself and posts a selfie, like it. If two people are getting married and post 1000 photos, be excited for them. Quit being so bitter.

Respect other's backgrounds, traditions and points of view.

Be generous, emphatic, loyal to yourself and other women if you want to be a good friend and have satisfying relationships.

Don't take your rights for granted because the past generations of women didn't have them.

Go to vote. Even if you are sceptical and you don't trust politics, do it for the women who lost their lives to allow you to do that.

Allow yourself to be completely free: don't feel guilty for choosing what's best for you.

Allow yourself to love who you want and the liberty to choose who to be surrounded by.

Please, don't try to please everybody at all costs. Don't say "maybe" if you want to say "no" and don't feel the need to justify yourself. Don't let anybody choose for you.

Stop shrinking yourself to fit into places you have overgrown. Don't settle.

Not in a job you hate, not in a town where you don't feel at home, not with friendships that aren't real, especially not with love.

You don't have to prove anything to anyone. You are going to piss a lot of people off when you start doing what's best for you and it's fine. Put yourself first. You are the priority. At the end of the day, you are the longest commitment.

Don't be available for things that make you feel like shit. Breaking up is ok. Starting over is ok. Moving on is ok. Being alone is ok. What is not ok is staying somewhere where you aren't happy, valued or appreciated.

Don't seek other people's approval at all times. At your absolute best, you still won't be good enough for the wrong person. At your worst, you'll still be worthy of the right one. You deserve somebody who inspires you toward greater things, while loving you exactly as you are.

Stand up for yourself when you need, be loud if someone is unfair to you. Don't just suck it up. Allow to express your feelings, allow yourself to be angry or moody, allow yourself to cry.

Allow yourself to be human and fragile, allow yourself to be indecisive, to be unproductive sometimes, allow yourself to be bored, to desire more than you already have. At the same time, be grateful for what you own.

Stay afraid, but do it anyway. You don't have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually, the confidence will follow. Take that chance: better an "oops" than "what if". Apply for that job. Date that person. Buy that plane ticket. Move to another city. Do all the things that scare you: they are worth it. Don't let anybody put you down, not even yourself. Don't wish for it, work for it!

Forgive yourself for past mistakes. Allow yourself to let go of what hurt you. You don't have to be perfect to be amazing.

Keep going, be unstoppable: not because you won't have doubts or failures, but despite them. Note to yourself: every time you were convinced you couldn't go on, you did.

Allow yourself to follow your gut instinct, to dream big, to fantasise and never let your wings be stolen from you.

Don't let anybody say that you can't have it all, that you have to choose between having a career and being a mum. Don't let society decide what is appropriate for you and your age. You are not too old and it's not too late. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. Don't doubt yourself: everything you need, your courage, strength, compassion and love; everything is already within you.

Feel free to change your mind.

Take the time to be slow and to rest. Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Don't rush yourself: slow progress is still progress. Don't be so anxious, be positive, choose joy. Stop predicting and controlling and enjoy each moment as it comes.

Don't take your achievements for granted. Talk about your blessings more than about your problems.

Don't apologise for being pretty, strong, smart, or rich. The ocean does not apologise for its depth and the mountains do not seek forgiveness for the space they take and do, neither should you. Know your worth. Be the CEO your parents always wanted you to marry.

Take care of yourself and of the people you love but also let others take care of you when you need to. Feel free to ask for help.

And please, please, don't lose hope. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel, for every dark night there's a brighter day. When you can't find the sunshine, be the sunshine.
