May most loved products

Ciao, welcome back to my blog!

It's that time of the month again: what I bought, read, watched, ate and basically loved in May is here for you!

I broke the non-fashion purchases vow I made last month, as I was in desperate need of a pair of leggings: the ones I had been falling apart and they were beyond repairing, so I threw them away. I won't mention them here as they are nothing special to be honest, but I bought several things for the house which I am so excited about (I am getting older) and I believe is rather common due to the current situation.

But let's crack on with the list of May 2020 most loved products:

Handheld steamer

I wanted it for so long and I don't why I kept procrastinating the purchase. Now that the season of cotton and linen is upon us, I couldn't delay anymore.

It is a true lifesaver, I am telling you: ironing, disinfection, humidification, wrinkle & dust removal.

It works gently on even the most delicate fabrics and the steam kills bacteria and removes odours easily. I also use it to freshen many items that are not clothes, such as curtains and bedding. I love this one as it came with a lint remover plus refresh brush, which makes it perfect!

The best feature is that despite being very powerful for being small, it doesn't leak at all, which is a rare thing as even the big one that we have in store tends to leak hot water. I got it in the sale for only 17 quids, which is a bargain, but the full price is actually very reasonable too (30 pounds).

For all the fans of the crisp ironing out there: it is not the best solution for shirts, I admit it. I have good tips to make it better though. I have tried to spray the shirts with water to make them dump in order to soften the creases and then I have steamed it and the result is very close to the actual ironing. For a fraction of the time and effort, for me, it is a winner!

Vacuum storage bags

Living in tight spaces is a reality for most when living in London.

A sturdy set of storage bags is the best option to put away all the winter stuff and it is great even for king size duvets.

This heavy-duty set of storage bags is the one I chose after days of research and it comes with 5 bags of different sizes: the big one is for duvets, throws and pillows and the smaller ones are great for regular clothes.

I am very pleased with the quality, it feels thick enough and it is amazing to protect your woollies and cashmere knitwear from moths. I used my regular hoover, it took me literally only 5 minutes to do it and now I have plenty of extra space in the wardrobe.

Yes! I will always do it form now on at every seasonal change for sure.

Thank God is Summer again. I know it is not officially summer yet, but these heat waves make it very close to it.

I have been sunbathing in my local park a lot lately and I have been using this great tinted moisturiser with SPF 40 on my face. It is lightweight and suitable for all skin types, even mine that is sensitive and intolerant to basically everything in the world.

It is a bit on the pricey side to be fair, but it is one of the best I have ever tried so I highly recommend it.

Gone with the wind

This classic movie from 1939 is one of my favourites of all times and I was craving to watch it again for years but never had enough time for it, not even on weekends as it is super long.

This lockdown had its benefits, after all, the perfect occasion to catch up with books, movies and tv series that was on my wish list.

No need to comment on how grand it is, because it is one of the most famous movie ever for a reason. My boyfriend loved it too despite his initial prejudices, so do yourself a favour and give it a go, you will thank me!

The book deals with the Japanese secret to a long and happy life with Ikigai by Yukari Mitsuhashi.

Ikigai translates as ‘a reason to live’ or a reason to jump out of bed in the morning’. It’s the place where your needs, desires, ambitions, and satisfaction meets: a point of perfect balance and perfect fulfilment.

It is a comforting read, something that helps leaving stress and urgency behind, and throws yourself into finding your purpose, nurturing your friendships, and pursuing your passions.

As a minimalist, I really appreciate and enjoy this kind of subject that nourishes my belief and I think I will read more self-growth books from now on.

Another brilliant mini-series (only 4 episodes) from Netflix this time, I heard about it while I was watching Better called Saul and I decided to wait until I finished the one I started.

Then the last weekend of May, I finally managed to watch it and let me tell you guys: it is truly amazing. It is a thrilling story of a fragile-looking, tiny young woman, who shows a mesmerising level of braveness fleeing her already written and planned life in a closed Hasidic Jewish community for a fresh start in Berlin.

What I love the most about it is that the actress's performance was extremely genuine, as a result her character came out convincing, very realistic, filled with doubts and despite the fear she is so determined to pursue her dreams no matter the cost.

You all will love it, I know!

Cat Napp's song "Thunder" is my new obsession an I immediately added to my YouTube playlist (like thousands of people like me who watched it on Netflix as I found out reading the comments)

Sunflower vol 6

It is no secret I love Harry styles. Sunflower has been by far the most played song of the month for me while cooking, writing and walking. I

t just makes me happy, like I am to a party on the beach, wearing a lovely pastel sundress, my favourite cocktail in hand and my feet in the sand. Basically, this was the song I needed to escape this stupid situation we are currently living in for 3:43 precious minutes.

Wok pan

I needed a medium size pan as my old one was too worn out. I had a look online and ended up buying the one below.

I am still testing it but so far, I really like it! It is a bit heavy, to be honest, but I opted for a Wok pan again because I cook a lot and it is so versatile to experiment with cooking techniques including stir-frying, steaming, deep-frying, poaching, boiling, braising, searing, stewing, making soup, smoking and roasting nuts.

The multitask pan for excellence!

Belazu Truffle and artichoke pesto

This my new food addiction. I usually don't buy pre-made dips and stuff as I do them myself but I couldn't help myself this time.

I found it browsing in Tesco, it sounded very promising and it is actually yummy indeed.

I like to spread it on a piece of toast topped with a sliced ham...delicious! It will be great also as a pasta sauce.

Vest + shorts set

When the temperatures rise, my go-to loungewear combo is made of vest + shorts sets.

The first one is actual loungewear, while the following two are clearly PJs. I am obsessed with matching sets - especially the ones that have pockets! I feel put together and pretty whilst being comfy.

As mine are all old and not available online anymore, I linked below a couple of cute alternatives for you that I personally love and are on my current wish list. They are all very feminine as when I feel more in a tomboy vibe, I just borrow my boyfriend ones.

Thank you very much for reading my post today, I hope you enjoyed it. If so, please share it on your social media accounts to help me grow.
